The Rhine Falls

Welp, as I said, I'm back today to show pictures from our trip to the Rhine Falls. These falls are the largest plain waterfalls in Europe. Pretty awesome I think! Jon and I heard about the falls from a fellow employee of Jon's, and since it was on our way home from Switzerland we definitely wanted to stop and see them. Here are the pictures of our stop at the Rhine Falls:

I forgot to post this picture in yesterdays post...
This is a picture from inside of the tram
I'm still trying to understand why someone would saw a seat on a train...

Hope you all enjoyed the pictures! And I hope you have a FANTASTIC weekend!!

We are on our way to Prague this morning with our friends Dawn and Corey! Prague is one of our favorite cities in Europe as you can tell by THIS and THIS... and we are SO looking forward to going again. As I'm sure you already know, there will be lots of pictures to follow this adventure!

A Swiss Adventure

Note: Be prepared for a long post with LOTS of pictures!

Hello lovely friends, family and blogging buddies!
How are you all?

WOW, where has time gone? I just realized it has been since February 2 since I've last blogged. Maybe I'm in a blog funk or as some fellow bloggers have called it "A case of the Februaries!"... But, I suppose there hasn't been anything too exciting going on here at the Adventures of Jon and Steph. We have been training for our half marathon that takes place this coming May, we've both been busy with work and daily life happenings, but we did manage to get away last weekend and had a little adventure in Switzerland!

Saturday morning we got up early and made the 4 hour drive to Zurich, Switzerland. The city is like any normal large city with beautiful old buildings and lovely churches. But one thing I loved about Zurich is the river running through the city, which then led to Lake Zurich. When we arrived in the city, we jumped on the tram, and rode it to the center of downtown. We then walked down the river, through the city, to the beginning of the lake. Here are some pictures I took along the way.

Downtown Zurich

Lake Zurich

Before we left for our trip, Jon did a little research, and came across a look out point at one of the mountains in Zurich, at which you can see a panoramic view of all of Zurich and Lake Zurich. Of course we were really interested in seeing this, so Sunday morning we woke up early and headed for the look out point known as Uetliberg. Jon and I LOVE to hike, it's one of our most favorite things to do so we were really excited to see that there was a hiking trail to the top. This hike was one of the most beautiful treks I've ever been on. I had never seen so much snow in my entire life, it was incredible. My friend (and fellow Okie) Jaci commented on one of my pictures on Facebook, that it looked like Narnia! She couldn't have put it better. It was like we were in another world. The pictures really don't do it justice, but of course you know I LOVE to show photos on my blog... So here are some shots from our 3 hour trek.

The view from the very top!

We had a fantastic time in Zurich and a wonderful Valentines day all thanks to this guy right here!! What a catch ;)
Tomorrow I'll swing back by for a quick recap of the last of our Switzerland adventure! We went to the Rhine Falls about 45 minutes outside of Zurich on the Swiss and German border.

Hope you all have a wonderful Thursday! It's almost the weekend!!

Hummus!!

Hello lovely friends, family and blogging buddies! I hope you all are doing wonderful today!

Today I thought I'd share a recipe I recently found for something that I have just become very fond of... Hummus. Holy deliciousness! We recently went to dinner at a Lebanese restaurant and had hummus as an appetizer. I've had it several times before, but for some reasons my taste-buds just went bonkers (yup I said Bonkers) and now I can't get enough of the goodness that is hummus.

So here's whatcha need:

4 cloves of garlic, minced
2- 15oz cans garbanzo beans, rinsed and drained.
2/3 cup tahini
1/3 cup freshly squeezed lemon juice
1/2 cup water
1/4 cup olive oil
and add salt if needed.

In a food processor add all following ingredients. Process until smooth.

I downsized this recipe and made exactly half,
added a little EVOO and lemon juice to top and voila!
YUMMY Hummus!

Not to mention this recipe is so darn easy and it's really good! You should try it!

And guess what! I'm so excited because:

ZOMBIELAND
just came out on DVD today, and you bet I've already purchased it! Jon and I LOVE zombie movies and this one is definitely a buyer. Not to mention Woody Harrelson is a hoot in the movie!

I hope you all have a wonderful Tuesday!

Weekend Update

Hello lovely friends, family and blogging buddies! How are all of you today?? I hope you had a fantastic weekend!

We here at The Adventure of Jon and Steph, had a pretty laid back weekend.

Friday night Jon and I spent the evening on the couch watching Chuck. Our friend just got us hooked on it, and now we can't be peeled away from the television. It's such an adorable show!

Saturday I did some hairdos and afterward Jon and I ventured to Ikea. WOW, that was a ginormous mistake, as I think it was the busiest I had ever seen Ikea before. But we had to get some things for the house and since they serve the BEST MEATBALLS EVER we couldn't pass those up either. Later that evening our neighbors invited us over for a full Greek dinner! The wife is actually Greek, born and raised in Greece, so she was very excited to make us a special dinner from her home country. And of course we were excited to Greek food, because Jon and I have never really eaten it food before, unless you consider a Doner/Gyro Greek. (Wow did I really just write Greek 5 times in the span of a couple of sentences...)

Sunday we barely moved from the couch. I think it had something to do with all of the Ouzo they kept pouring in our glasses the night before. Whew... But we really had a great time. It's nice to meet fun and exciting people in another country!

This week we will be training hard, as we slacked a little last week! It's just been so darn cold and hasn't stopped snowing in like two weeks. COME on already with this snow!!

Jon got me a crock pot/slow cooker a couple of weeks ago and I am loving it. Talk about making life easy!! Except I am running low on recipe ideas...

Any one have any suggestions of some yummy slow cooker recipes?? I'd LOVE any advice!

It is so much easier to put something in the crock pot, and have it ready by the time we get home from training. We usually don't get home until 7 or later so it really is a life saver!

Hope you all have a wonderful Monday!
